Thompson & Morgan Sisyrinchium palmifolium Canary 1 Seed Packet (15 Seeds), Yellow

Sisyrinchium palmifolium 'Canary' produces masses of golden flowers through the summer and is sure to grab the attention of onlookers. A rare perennial that is ideal for the front of borders that get plenty of sun. The slender foliage provides the perfect back drop for the stunning blooms. This beautiful variety of Sisyrinchium forms neat clumps, ideal for low maintenance gardens. This unique plant does require some patience as germination can be erratic, but you will be rewarded with a truly spectacular perennial. Sow Sisyrinchium seed from February to April at a depth of 1.5mm in a free-draining, damp seed compost, and cover with a fine sprinkling of vermiculite. Place container in a propagator or seal inside a plastic bag and place at a temperature of 10-15C (50-59F) until after germination. Germination can be extremely erratic and may take from 30-180 days. Do not exclude light, as this helps germination. When seedlings are large enough to handle, transplant them into trays or 7.5cm (3”) pots and grow them on in cooler conditions. When plants are well grown, and all risk of frost pas passed, gradually acclimatize them to outdoor conditions over 7 - 10 days before planting out in any moist, fertile, well-drained soil in full sun. Water Sisyrinchium plants regularly until they are fully established. Sisyrinchium requires virtually no maintenance. Cut back the old foliage to just above ground level in autumn to maintain a tidy appearance.
