Choose an open position in full sun that has not been planted with roses in recent years when growing Rose ‘Charisma’, and plant in rich, fertile, well-drained soil. Prior to planting, dig in plenty of well-rotted manure or garden compost and a small handful of granular fertiliser to the planting hole. Feed and water Rose ‘Charisma’ regularly, and deadhead faded flowers to prolong the blooming period. Remove any suckers from the base of the plant below the graft union. Begin pruning in late summer by removing dead and diseased wood, and any rubbing or damaged branches, then reduce the stems by two thirds. After pruning, apply a mulch of well-rotted manure or garden compost.
