Although this variety is no relation to us, it is the earliest variety of Rhubarb we have ever found and is bred in Essex! It harvests from March right through to mid-summer, producing lovely thick pink flavoursome stalks that are just perfect for pies, crumbles and making jams. This hardy perennial will produce tasty rhubarb a month earlier than other varieties and is a perfect addition to your patio or kitchen garden.Plant rhubarb from autumn to spring in a sunny position in well drained soil. Prepare the soil in advance by digging in plenty of well rotted manure and clearing all weeds. When planting budded pieces from mature rhubarb crowns, set them so that the top of the crown sits 3cm (1") below soil level and allow a spacing of 75cm (30") between plants. Alternatively plant them in large containers of soil based compost such as John Innes No 3. mixed with plenty of rotted manure.Product Specifications:. Position in: Sun or Semi Shade.
