Commonly known as the Tapas pepper, this vegetable can be enjoyed at home from your own plant. Chilli Pepper 'Padron' has variable heat but is best when picked small and green for the lowest level of heat but the heat increases as the peppers get larger and turn red. Perfect when added to stir fries or when stuffed or grilled. Water chilli pepper plants regularly throughout the growing season and feed weekly with a high potash tomato fertiliser once the first fruits have set. Taller varieties of chilli peppers may require staking. In greenhouses, maintain high humidity by damping down paths daily. Harvest chillies singly by cutting them from the plant with secateurs or pull the entire plant when full of red peppers, and hang upside down in the kitchen for use over several months.
