As you would expect, the roots are a lovely spherical shape with a deep crimson colour that adds a real splash of colour to your dinner plate. Boil them and serve cold in salads or as a hot vegetable. Perfect for pickling too! Beetroot are extremely easy to grow from seed. There’s no need to start them off indoors; simply sow them into drills outside, on well drained soil in a sunny position. Feed and water regularly throughout the summer. With regular sowings (every 2 weeks) you can enjoy a constant supply of deliciously sweet and tender roots from June to October. Be sure to harvest them all before the first frosts.
