A magnet for pollinating insects with its nectar rich blooms, this sun loving Monarda forms an attractive clump at the front of borders, particularly on rich, damp soils. Herb growers will also know this variety by its other common name, Bergamot, and by the scent of its aromatic foliage. Culinary note: use the dried leaves to make bergamot tea or use the sweet, spicy-flavoured petals to enhance salads, jellies, rice or pasta dishes.
