The otter is a relatively lonely little animal that lives and hunts in the fresh waters of the globe. This mammal of the Mustelidae family has short legs, webbed, clawed fingers and a long tail. The latter, unlike a polar bear or a dolphin, has no layer of fat under the skin to insulate it from the cold. It is his coat, made up of both long and short hairs, that plays this role.
