Description

With clean, contemporary lines and a simple but effective mechanism, this Olympia contemporary cafetiere is guaranteed to please discerning customers who know their coffee. The glass inner can be easily removed and replaced for easy cleaning and quick replacing in the unlikely event of a smash. Spare meshes available. How to use a cafetiere 1. Remove the lid and fill the jug with boiling water. This will pre-heat it and prevent your coffee cooling too much as it brews. 2. If using your own beans, grind them to a medium coarse consistency. Pre-ground beans are fine too, but nothing can beat the freshness of just-ground coffee. You'll want to end up with about 70g of grounds per litre of coffee. So, for a 3 cup cafetiere (350ml), you'll need about 23g of grounds. 3. Empty the hot water from the jug and add your coffee grounds. 4. Slowly fill the jug about 1/3 of the way up with hot - but not boiling - water. For the best results you'll want your water to sit at around 91-96°C. Once you've added the water, stir and allow to sit for 30 seconds. This will allow the rich notes in the coffee to develop. 5. After 30 seconds, fill the jug to the top with the rest of the water. Stir, replace the lid, ensuring the plunger is pulled all the way up, and allow to brew for a further 3 minutes 30 seconds. 6. Once brewed, slowly push the plunger down, taking care not to push too hard at the bottom, as this can compact your grounds and release a strong, bitter taste. 7. Pour and serve. How much coffee do you put in a cafetiere? For the perfect cafetiere coffee, you'll want about 70g of grounds per litre of brewed coffee. For a 3 cup cafetiere (350ml), this equates to about 23g, or 1 and a half tablespoons; for a six cup (700ml) you'll want 46g, or 3 full tablespoons; and for an eight cup (1Ltr) you'll need the full 70g, or roughly 4 and a half tablespoons. How long should coffee brew in a cafetiere? Cafetiere coffee should be brewed for about 4 minutes. 3 cup | 350ml | 12 1/3oz
