About The Green Welly Stop

The Green Welly Stop is a family business since 1965, based in Tyndrum at the heart of Scotland. Founded when Betty and Les Gosden sold their Edinburgh house and moved to Tyndrum, it has grown from a post office, general store and single petrol pump to an incredibly popular Highland stop-off.

In the 1980s, Derek Wilkie opened a shop offering wellies, walking boots and Barbour jackets, with customers affectionately naming it "The Green Welly Stop." Today it's a third-generation family business run by Les' granddaughter Fiona Robertson and her husband Edward.

Located at the junction of A82 and A85 - the gateway to scenic Highland road trips - the once humble petrol station now offers a take-away café, self-service restaurant, gift shop, outdoor clothing store (stocking Joules, Weird Fish, Berghaus), award-winning toilets, rare whiskies, and parking for 50 bikes. Open 8am-9pm daily.
