Hootsuite is a social media management platform created by Ryan Holmes in 2008, originally named BrightKit before being renamed Hootsuite - a wordplay on the French expression "tout de suite" (meaning "right now"), based on "Owly," the dashboard's owl logo. The company is based in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada.
