The Rug Company was founded in London in 1997 by husband-and-wife duo Christopher and Suzanne Sharp. Inspired by the artful hand-knotted carpets they discovered in Middle Eastern marketplaces, they set out to produce contemporary Nepalese rugs using traditional Tibetan knot techniques. Known for designer collaborations with names like Paul Smith, Vivienne Westwood, and Alexander McQueen, the company now has 26 showrooms globally. Their Holland Park showroom, opened in 1998, remains a flagship destination.
