Card Factory began in 1993 when Dean and Janet Hoyle started buying cards wholesale and selling them at car boot sales. The very first store opened on Teall Street in Wakefield on 1 November 1997, with an initial investment of approximately £20,000 generating £100,000 profit in its first year.
The company has grown phenomenally, now operating 1,090 stores across the UK and Ireland. Card Factory went public on 20 May 2014, listing on the London Stock Exchange's Main Market, validating its position as Britain's largest specialist card retailer.
Headquartered at Century House in Wakefield, West Yorkshire, Card Factory continues its mission of providing quality greeting cards and gifts at affordable prices, making every occasion special without breaking the bank.
