Field & Flower is an award-winning direct-to-customer meat subscription service founded in 2010 by James Field (a fifth-generation Somerset beef farmer) and food lover James Flower. The company began when co-founder James Flower bought a single cow from his family farm to avoid it being lost in the food chain via livestock markets. Their original mission was to supply consumers with grass-fed, best-quality beef directly to their homes. Operating as a subscription business, they confirm orders five days in advance, minimising waste by sourcing to exact orders and delivering fresh, not frozen. Winners of Online Butchers Shop of the Year 2018, Observer Food Monthly's Best Independent Retailer 2019, and Grocer Gold Specialist Online Retailer 2021.
