About Butlers Farmhouse Cheeses

Butlers Farmhouse Cheeses is an award-winning artisan cheese producer founded in 1932 when Richard and Annie Butler purchased Lower Barker Farm in Inglewhite, Lancashire, at the foot of Beacon Fell. Deep in the heart of rural Lancashire, the Butler family has been crafting exceptional cheeses for four generations, now run by Matthew and Daniel Hall. Their flagship farmhouse Lancashire recipe was created by Jean Butler, while their Blacksticks Blue is often dubbed the daddy of all blue cheeses. Committed to sustainability, they source milk from within a 10-mile radius of their dairy. In March 2024, they acquired Hampshire Cheese Company, home of acclaimed soft cheeses Tunworth and Winslade.
